MIGA keeps abreast of industry developments and plays a key role in advocating on behalf of our members and clients on issues that may impact them in their day to day work.
I am really pleased to advise Timothy Bowen has joined MIGA in a new role, Senior Solicitor – Advocacy, Claims & Education, based in our Sydney office.
Many of you will know Timothy as for the last 8 months he has worked on secondment in our Sydney office whilst Marie Clare Elder (Senior Solicitor – Claims and Legal Services) has been on maternity leave. Prior to this Timothy supported MIGA as an external panel solicitor, most recently as Special Counsel at DibbsBarker (one of MIGA’s key legal firms) where he worked for over 7 years. He has significant experience in medical indemnity and the regulatory environment and knows MIGA and many of our members and clients very well.
The major focus of this new role will be on advocacy, research and development of MIGA position papers and submissions in the areas of medico-legal, professional standards and matters that impact on regulation of the healthcare profession. Timothy will also provide support to our current teams in the areas of risk management education and claims management.
This new role demonstrates the importance MIGA places on representing the profession and will enable us to have an even stronger focus in the future, working on your behalf.
We will keep you updated on work that MIGA is doing in the area of advocacy and industry submissions via our website and future Bulletins.
